Inaugural Ceremony of "National Seminar" organised by SOL

IMS Unison University’s National Seminar,2019 proceeded apace, in all its grandiosity. The inauguration was preceded today by Chief Guest Prof (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Vice Chancellor, National Law University, New Delhi.

 

The exuberant day one of the event began with traditional welcome and felicitation of the chief guest.

 

The inaugural ceremony commenced with the welcome address and overview of the event by Professor Dr. R.N. Sharma, Dean, School of Law, who expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest for adding lustre to the event by his presence. He evaluated the importance of such conferences on bringing to light the diversification of varied aspects of social-legal aspects relating to environment protection. He also enumerated that law over the period of time has adopted an inter-disciplinary approach which has resulted in the broadening of its scope and immensity, yet there are various lacunas which still exists. He also recapitulates the exploitation of environment and its effects on Human Rights. Hem mentioned the “United Nations 2030 Goals” which talks about sustainable development so that next generation can enjoy the same rights otherwise we will live in the world of vacuum. He concluded his words by focusing on conserving the environmental rights for the next generation.

 

Further, Prof (Dr.) Chancellor admonished the august gathering by his exhilarating words of wisdom. He extended his heartening welcome to the honorable Chief Guest and also extended his greetings to all the participants, from all esteemed universities. He edified the importance of such deliberation by talking about the environmental problems, by doing the dangerous experiments with is environment is getting degraded and full of toxic elements. For preserving of environment actions are required i.e. on 27 Feb, 2019 the Haryana Government enacted a legislation to stop commercialization of Forests and more such actions are required.

 

Honorable Chief Guest Prof (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Vice Chancellor, National Law University, New Delhi, in his adrenalizing declamation, epitomized that what are we going to save, when we don’t know what environment is? He paid emphasis on Bhopal Gas Leak tragedy and said that every Human Right can wait but environmental rights cannot wait. The importance of culminating a democratic setup and significance of development of writing skills in individuals. 

 

Ms Shalini B. Bachheti, Faculty Convener, National Seminar, School Of Law, concluded the inaugural ceremony with the vote of thanks.

 

The Key Note address was declaimed by Prof Satish C Shastri. He enumerated the distinct nature of environmental laws and it’s history. He also mentioned the landmark 1996, RELAK case in which mining of the lime stones was banned by the court in a bid to protect ecology of the place and discussed emerging health emergency because of degradation of the environment.

 

The first day of the event was divided into two technical sessions, it witnessed a brainstorming and informative session of various scholars and dignitaries from all over India. The day came to an end with rejuvenating group discussion sessions and an informative round of deliberations on the necessary aspects of environment protection.
