    National Mediation Competition, Day 3, School of Law

    The final day of the event commenced with the briefing of judges. Afterwards, the final round began at 10.50 AM. The two competent teams enthusiastically articulated their points and the mediators along with counsels used their knack and intellect to prevent chaos between the two parties.

    The Valedictory Ceremony initiated soon after the final round ended. It was illuminated by the presence of dignitaries and honourable guests. With his prudent words, Prof. R.N. Sharma (Dean SOL) addressed, welcomed, and congratulated everyone for successfully organising the National Mediation Competition and appreciated the participants for participating in the event.

    Thereafter, Ms. Poonam Kumari Bhagat, Faculty Co-Convener presented a report of the whole event.

     

    Then, Prof. Tabrez Ahmad, Vice Chancellor and Dean SOL at GD Goenka University, dwelled in the “Art of Client Handling”. Moreover, he added that mediation is applicable from petty to complex cases.

    Afterwards, our Guest of Honour, Dr. Sachin Acharya, Vice Chairman of Bar Council of Rajasthan, presented an insight of the pre-mediation process. He opined that this is an “Era of Mediation and not of Arbitration and Litigation”.

    Then, our 2nd Guest of Honour, Mr. Himanshu Upadhyaya, Senior Supreme Court Advocate and member of Parliamentary Committee, opined that before going for arbitration go for mediation. He added that mediation is not a matter of ego but of reconciliation.

    The result was declared by Ms. Sarita, Faculty Co-Convener as follows-

    Winner team- NMC 16 Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad (Cash Prize- Rs. 6000)

    Runner up team- NMC 06 UPES Dehradun (Cash Prize- Rs. 4000)

    Best mediator- NMC 16 Aayushi Verma (Cash Prize- Rs. 2000)

     

    The Faculty Convener Ms. Sakshee Sharma expressed thanks and gratitude to all the participants and the organizing committee for successfully conducting these two mega events simultaneously.

    Later during the day Hon’ble Chancellor of IMS Unison University, Prof. Dr. Gurdip Singh Bahri felicitated the faculty conveners, co-conveners, student conveners and co-conveners and all the members of the organizing committee with certificates of appreciation and trophies. The celebration ended with a group photograph in the central plaza.
