    Online Faculty development Programme on “Research Methods and Innovative Teaching Techniques”

     

    School of Law, IMS Unison University organized  a one week Online Faculty development Programme on “Research Methods and Innovative Teaching Techniques” from 29th June, 2020 to 4th July, 2020.

    The institution very well understands and supports the spirit of undisrupted learning during times of a pandemic. In consonance with the same, enhancement of academia in legal education forms a pertinent component of the University’s objectives. In the same connection, experts of the programme delved into numerous intricacies of research and research based teaching in law as component of Innovative Teaching Methodology. The program witnessed purposeful interactions among distinguished Academicians, Lawyers and Resource Persons from various spectrum of Legal Profession.

    The objective of the program was to carry on the University’s mission of “Learning without Constraints”. In consonance with its objective and with due guidance and support of IMS Unison University and under the direction and supervision of Prof. Dr. RN Sharma, Dean School of Law constituted a committee comprising of Ms. Shalini Saxena, Ms. Maryanka & Ms. Garima Trivedi for efficient conduction of the event.

    About 470 participants from over 100 prominent universities of the country registered for the FDP program. This was a One-week program with thirteen enriching sessions addressed by experts of the legal fraternity.

    The first session was addressed by Prof. Dr. Venkata Rao, an eminent Jurist on the theme, “An Overview of Teaching Methods and Innovative Teaching Techniques”. He explained multiple teaching techniques and various paradigms of learning process along with other related issues.

    The second session was on the theme “Internationalization of Indian Legal System” wherein senior advocate, Ms. Aishwarya Bhati explained in simplified manner the multifarious constitutional philosophies like Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles, Gender Justice etc by substantiating it in national as well as international horizons.

     

    The third and fourth sessions were on the subject “Human Rights: Jurisprudential Perspective”. Prof. (Dr.) Gurdip Singh, honorable Chancellor, in his interaction, explored various intricacies of Human Rights responsibilities along with highlighting trans-corporate and social responsibilities and suggested groundbreaking solutions to various issues of gross Human Right violations.

    Session fifth and sixth was taken by Prof. (Dr.) A.P. Singh. He dwelt upon the subject “Importance of Empirical research in Law” and “Plagiarism”. He explained the importance of Empirical research in contemporaneous situations, the concept of Empiricism and its limitations. The nuances of plagiarism and other ethical issues were addressed in detail in the second session.

    In seventh session while dwelling upon “Research and Ethics”, Prof. (Dr.) RN Sharma explained basics of Research, its meaning and types of research. He also explained the concepts of ethics and morality while explaining their role in research. He also emphasized on the problem of originality in research while referring about plagiarism.

    In the eighth session, Prof. (Dr.) V.K. Ahuja deliberated upon “Case Law based Teaching Pedagogy”. He explained with the help of suitable case laws the significance of technique of case study based approaches to make the teaching more fruitful and student friendly.

    Prof. Dr. Hemant Kumar Sharma, in the ninth session discussed “Research Methods: An Overview”. He accentuated on the importance and characteristics of scientific research, variables and controlled variables, and role of Hypothesis in research.

    Research Formation” was the topic for discussion in session tenth. While addressing the participants, Dr. Nitesh Saraswat explained in detail the preliminary considerations for formulation of a research problem. He also discussed various methods of research viz application-based, pure research and applied research and various approaches for identifying broader areas of research.

    Dr. Garima in the eleventh session explained in detail the “Online Teaching Techniques”. In her interactive session, she explained various techniques and software which can be used while taking online classes. She emphasized on the importance of latest technology and various e-learning management systems in teaching are sine a qua non in this pandemic era.

    The final two sessions (twelfth and thirteenth) were addressed by the Prof. (Dr.) C.S. Reddy Patil on the themes “Organization of Pedagogy” and “Value in Legal Research”. He talked about the importance of continuous learning by a teacher by adopting all available pedagogies to make the students satisfied. He also discussed the role of value in legal research keeping in view the component of objectivity, value neutrality, and originality in legal research and impact of Constitutional and Socio-Legal Discourse while conducting research.
