Producer and Anchor, India TV Mr. Rohit Punetha at SOMC

The School of Mass communication, IMS Unison University (IUU), organized a special guest lecture on August 10, 2018. The guest of the session was Mr. Rohit Punetha, News Anchor & Senior Producer at India News. He is also an ex-alumnus of IUU of batch MAJMC 2005-07. Mr. Punetha has also worked with prominent news organizations like Aaj Tak and Dainik Jagran. Mr. Punetha delivered a special lecture to a packed hall of students who appreciated his warm presence. The aim of the lecture was to provide first-hand media exposure to the students. Dr. Sushil Rai, Head School of Mass Communication, faculty members and students participated in the program. In his dynamic address, Mr. Punetha familiarized the students with the challenges faced by an anchor. He asserted that journalism as a profession requires a high level of discipline and dedication. He said that a good journalist must be well-read and keep himself updated with new information and skills. He also stressed the need for the presence of mind and alertness. He narrated several incidents from his journalistic career that were both challenging and exciting at the same time. Mr. Punetha said it was a proud moment for him to come back as a successful man and be speaking at his alma mater. He encouraged the students to focus on the practical aspects of education along with a sound grounding in theory. The lecture concluded with an interactive session in which the students raised their queries related to building a career in the media field. The overall session was appreciated by everyone present.
