Webinar on 'An Overview of Mass Media’ organized by SOMC

A webinar on the topic, 'An Overview of Mass Media' was conducted by the School of Mass Communication as part of its orientation programme. The resource person for the webinar was the renowned media person and academician Prof. Baldev Raj Gupta, Member, Press Council of India and Director, Buddha Institute of Advanced Studies, Noida.

An esteemed member of the media fraternity and an academician par excellence, Prof. Raj Gupta has also worked as an editor at Express-News, as an Editorial Advisor at Dainik Bhaskar and as a political editor at EMS Web.

Prof. Raj Gupta in his interaction with enthusiastic students spoke about the history of cinema in India, contemporary issues in print media in India, and The United States and the growth of media.

He further spoke on the concept of mass media, and how each component of mass media functions and as evolved with Digital media radically changing our lives.

He shared his views on the importance of ethical journalism and the role of the Press Council of India. At the end of the session, Prof. Gupta answered the queries raised by the students. Overall, it was an enriching and enlightening session for the first-year students of SOMC.
