The School of Mass Communication (SOMC), IMS Unison University, Dehradun, (IUU) organized a One-Day National E-Conference on the theme 'Media, Communication and Development: Emerging Trends and Challenges' on October 23, 2021.
Dr. Sushil Kumar Rai, Conference Chairman and Associate Dean & Head, School of Mass Communication, IUU, welcomed the Chief Guest, the Chancellor, other dignitaries and the participants. Prof. Gurdip Singh, Chancellor, IUU, reiterated the importance of research in today’s scenario and emphasized the role of Media in the Development of society.
Prof. Biswajit Das, Chief Guest of the event, in his address to the participants said Media needs to keep evolving with changing nature of development in third world countries. He further emphasized the importance of Media tools in highlighting stories and news from areas that otherwise would not find a space in a national media platform.
This was followed by the vote of thanks by Dr. Varsha Sisodia, Convener, National E-Conference and Assistant Professor, SOMC.
Technical Session I, Chaired by Dr. Raghavendra Mishra, Professor & HOD, Department of Journalism and Mass, Communication, Indira Gandhi National Tribal, University (A Central University), Amarkantak, Annupur, Madhya Pradesh began with paper presentations. The session was moderated and Co-chaired by Ms. K. Nungshithoibi Singha.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Mishra congratulated the participants on their commendable paper presentations.
Technical Session II, Chaired by Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Professor, Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi saw paper presentations from across the country. The session was moderated and Co-chaired by Dr. Vikash Singh, Assistant Professor, SOMC. In his closing remarks, Dr. Kumar praised the participants for their well-researched & in-depth paper presentations.
The National E-Conference came to an end with a summary of the event by Dr. Vikash Singh wherein he congratulated everyone on the stupendous success of the event. He further thanked the Chief Guest and Session Chairs for their invaluable time and urged the participants to keep applying their research skills and participate again next year.
