Guest Lecture on “Possibility of a Harmonious Civilization: Paradigm Shift in Education”

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. But, the prevailing education system all over the world focuses on corporate mind-set on competition in every walk of life, which has infiltrated even in family life.

To stress on such flaws of the education system, a guest lecture was conducted at IMS Unison University by School of Law on November 18, 2019 on the topic “Possibility of A Harmonious Civilization: Paradigm Shift in Education”.

The Key-note speaker was Dr. Laj Utreja, whose professional experience covers a wide range of disciplines related to the US space and defense programs.

The event was graced by Dean, School of Law Prof. (Dr.) R. N. Sharma, Dean School of Hospitality Management Dr. Vinay Rana, Dean School of Management Dr. Kalyani Rangarajan and the knowledgeable faculties of law at IMS Unison University.

Before commencing with the lecture, our guest-speaker Dr. Utreja was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Prof. Dr. RN Sharma.

In his lecture, Dr. Laj Utreja talked about the growing concern among many thinkers that the present education system prepares the student for individual prosperity, compromising human responsibility at home, in the society and the environment.

While throwing light upon this, he proposed a new human-centric education system that has been planned with extensive brainstorming, rationales and contemplation. This system includes a stepped learning approach that prepares human beings to develop understanding of human values, human responsibility and goal of human life.

This new system, when it really emerges, would be more accommodating, less abrasive and easier to live with at each step and easily adaptable with all social systems. The major thrust in the curriculum would be on human coexistence, human sustainability and human justice.

Dr. Laj Utreja’s lecture was lauded by all present; including the young minds of the students of School of Law. As a token of our love, gratitude and appreciation, Dr. Utreja was felicitated by Dr. Sarita Singh with a memento. The event ended with a vote of thanks by Prof (Dr.) R. N. Sharma.
