    The School of Management, IMS Unison University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand is successfully organizing an Orientation Program for its initial batches of MBAs & Integrated BBA-MBA from August 17, 2020.
    On August 26, 2020 (Wednesday), the School invited Dr. S.S.Shanthakumari, Financial expert as an external resource person to speak on “Careers in Finance for MBA Students”.
    Dr. S.S.Shanthakumari is a Career Counselling Consultant and her interest is to guide the younger generation to choose a career path based of their interest. Her educational experience of more than one decade has helped in gaining knowledge and expertise in the field of finance. She has enriched knowledge of technical and analytical skills, required for disseminating the learning gained through the educational qualification. Also, the expertise in statistical and financial Modeling using software packages is her core competence to support her financial analytical skills. This knowledge is utilized in developing an analyst in the field of finance. She also has expertise in documentation for accreditation process of NBA, NAAC.
    Dr. Shanthakumari gained the knowledge in applying the business excellence model in the education industry using EFQM framework, Six Sigma Black Belt certification helps in designing the quality metrics for the education sector, MBTI and Strong Inventory certification have provided insights to provide personality-based career counselling and also Licensed Emotional Intelligence Coach Practitioner (LEICP) to facilitate managing emotions.
    Dr. Shantakumari guided our future managers on the career opportunities available in the field of finance after completion of their MBA program. She mentioned the numerous choices available in the finance domain. They will be able to build up their career as Investment banker, Insurance underwriter, Financial analyst and many more such options. She also discussed about different courses (CFA, CFP, ICWA) students can opt for, while pursuing as well as after completing MBA but the most important aspect is to put efforts in whatever they opt for.
    She interacted with the students and faculty of SOM and responded to their numerous queries. The session very so instructive, knowledgeable, and enlightening for all the students.
