A brief note of the Presentation
A faculty seminar was conducted on the subject of gender sensitivity. It was done under the supervision of the Dean of the School of Mass Communication at IMS Unison University.
Dr. Sandeep K. Gupta, an assistant professor at the School of Mass Communication, delivered a very insightful seminar entitled "Gender (De)stereotyping in Indian Television Advertisements." He said that gender awareness is a sensitive issue for the general public, and it needs to maximize this. He further stated that advertising professionals need to be more sensitive to gender depictions while producing advertising content to target the youth generation, which will help to raise awareness and sensitize young minds. Following this thought-provoking session, all of the faculty and staff members pondered and discussed gender depictions in television ads.
At 11:30 a.m. on 19 October, a faculty session took place in Room No. 101 of the IMS Unison University School of Mass Communication. Mr. Rajdeep Kundu, a professor at the School of Mass Communication, gave a presentation at the seminar about his research on "The Impact of OTT Platforms on Television Production.", in the presence of other faculty and stuff members.
Prof. Dr. Neeraj Khattri, dean of the School of Mass Communication, opened the session by stressing the significance of comprehending how OTT (Over-the-Top) platforms are revolutionising traditional television production and content consumption. He emphasised the necessity of scholarly discourse on this subject in order to adjust to the evolving media landscape.
In his talk, Mr. Kundu examined the ways in which over-the-top (OTT) platforms, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and others, have affected the conventional television production sector. He talked on how these platforms have reshaped audience tastes, content creation, and distribution, resulting in a move towards more varied and adaptable content formats. His observations highlight the increasing competition traditional TV networks confront in retaining viewers.
An interesting conversation and a thought-provoking Q&A session ensued after the presentation. Participating faculty members offered insightful criticism and recommendations for additional study. The importance of Mr. Kundu's work in predicting television production's future in the age of digital streaming was acknowledged as the seminar came to a close.
