Internal School Seminar on the topic "Contemporary Legal Issues"

On 21st December, 2019, School of Law organised an Internal School Seminar on the topic "Contemporary Legal Issues".

The speaker of the session was Prof. (Dr.) Ram Niwas Sharma, Dean, School of Law. Prof. Sharma enlightened the gathering on various historic judgements of Supreme Court of India in 2018 & 2019. Some of the cases include K. S. Puttaswamy v. Union of India ( Aadhaar Challenge), Decriminalization of Gay Sex-Section 377(Navtej Johar v. Union of India), Joseph Shine v. Union of India (Adultery Not a Crime), Indian Young Lawyers Association v. State of Kerala (Reconciling Religion with Gender Equality), Tehseen Poonawalla v. Union of India ( Cow Vigilantism), Jarnail Singh v. Lacchmi Narain Gupta (Reservation in Promotion),  Shafin Jahan v.KM Ashokan (Hadiya Marriage), the latest being Verdict on Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case and the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019.

The cases and their judgements were discussed from a legal perspective thus, making the session very interesting and informative.
