The School of Mass Communication, IMS Unison University, Dehradun organized a One-Day National E-Conference on the theme "Communication during Covid-19 Pandemic: Prospects and Challenges" on October 10, 2020. More than 40 research scholars and faculties from various colleges and universities like Christ University, Amity University, Central University of Rajasthan, Gujarat Vidyapeeth, University of Kerala, Central University of Jammu, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Bhimrao Ambedkar University participated in the conference. Jivesh Joshi, Judicial Officer and Shreya Joshi, Advocate from Nepal also presented paper in this virtual conference. The Chief Guest for the event was esteemed media academician Prof. Bishwajeet Das, Founding Director, Centre for Culture, Media & Governance, Jamia Millia Central University, New Delhi.
The E- Conference began with the welcome address for the participants and Chief Guest Prof. Ravikesh Srivastava, Pro Vice- Chancellor, IUU, who reiterated the importance of research in today’s scenario and emphasized the need of effective and blended communication. He then wished the event organizers and event participants a stupendous success.
Dr. Sushil Rai, Head, School of Mass Communication (IUU) welcomed the participants and officially declared the session open. Prof. Bishwajeet Das then addressed the participants with his views on the importance of blending technology and communication and how growing countries cannot innovate without technology.
The first technical session began with paper presentations on the theme and was moderated by session co-chair Varsha Sisodia, Assistant Professor, SOMC, IUU. The session chair for the first session was Dr. Dharmendra Singh, Associate Professor, Central University of Jammu. A parallel session was moderated by session co-chair Seema Shukla, Assistant Professor, SOMC, IUU with the session chair Dr. Vinay Rana, Dean, School of Hospitality Management, IUU.
It was followed by session III chaired by Dr Sushil Rai with co-chair & moderator K.N. Singha.
The event then concluded with the valedictory session and the closing remarks by Chief Guest Dr. Gautam Sinha, Vice Chancellor, IMS Unison University (IUU) where he congratulated everyone on the successful completion of the conference. This was followed by the vote of thanks by Dr Vikas Singh, Assistant Professor, School of Mass Communication where he summarized the event and commended the participants for their enriching research & contributions.
