SOMC organizes Webinar on Television Media: An Overview & Career Prospects

A webinar on Television Media: An Overview & Career Prospects was conducted by the School of Mass Communication. The resource person for the webinar was esteemed journalist and newsperson Mr HImanshu Shekhar, Editor (Government Affairs) at NDTV News Channel.

A journalist par excellence, Mr Shekhar shared his experiences as a government journalist while traveling with the Prime Minister’s Office and while covering news stories in the field of climate-related disasters like floods, legal rights of disaster victims, threats posed by climate change to development processes and industry, Sustainable Development Goals,etc. 

Mr Shekhar, in his interaction with students, discussed the rise of MOJO( Mobile Journalism), innovation in the field of reporting and journalism with the rise of virtual interviews, digital news gathering, reporting during disasters and the responsible usage of social media. 

He further reiterated how the rise of digital media will give an impetus and innovate the media landscape to develop new skills and profiles. 

The webinar then concluded with a Q&A session where Mr Shekhar happily answered the questions of each and every student. Overall, it was an interactive and informative session for all.
