School of Mass Communication organizes Special Session on Video Editing on Mobile Applications

A special session on Video Editing on Mobile Applications was organized by the School of Mass Communication as part of the Editing Tools and Techniques (Practical). The virtual session was conducted by Mr. Himanshu Pathik for the students of MA (Journalism and Mass Communication).

Students participated in hands-on-demonstration of video editing mobile apps such as Vita, iMovie, InShot, PowerDirector & GoPro Quik. Students were apprised of the techniques used to create, shoot and edit short videos without sound, creating assembly edits, creating Astons (text boxes with names & other descriptions), Graphic titles, and Animoto videos (videos with only graphics & text).

They were further trained in mobile media workflows, possible outside a typical office setup and editing while on the move, an aspect all journalists have to be adept with. Students were explained the do’s and don'ts of shooting travel videos and short clips without the need for a heavy and dedicated setup.

Overall, the session was informational and interesting for students who wish to pursue careers in videography and video editing in the domain of journalism and mass communication.
