    SoM holds National Conference on Rural Economic Challenges Day 1

    A National Conference on ‘Rural Economic Challenges- Role of Union Budget’ commenced at IMS Unison University today. The Conference was organised by School of Management. Assistant Director General ICAR (Retd) Dr Kusumakar Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dean Dr Kalyani Ranrajan was the Conference Chair on the occasion. The Co Chair of the conference was Dr Ajay K Singh. The Guests were welcomed by the Chancellor IUU Dr Gurdip Singh. The welcome address was delivered by Dr Kalyani Rangrajan. The organising Secretaries of the Conference were Dr Ashulekha Gupta and Dr Tripti Sharma who gave the conference a direction.A total of 52 papers received from twenty one universities, corporate and civil servants across India presented their papers. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Dr Kusumakar Sharma said, “Social policies should not be at the cost of economic policies. It does not pay to be a farmer in India. All factors are moving against favourable conditions. Soil quality is depleting and alternate factors are becoming more attractive. Agricultural development in India has been lopsided. We have ignored lot of crops for selected crops. We have to adopt move up and move out strategy in order to be more effective in our approach towards agriculture.”

     

    The conference witnessed participation from over 21 Universities and colleges including Doon University, Apex Group of Institutions, HNB Garhwal University, Amity University, Aligarh Muslim University, The Neotia University Kolkata, NIFTEM Sonipat , Starex University Gurugram, Uttaranchal University, Amarpali Group of Institutions Haldwani, SRTMU Nanded and Bangalore University among others. The Chief Guest was felicitated by the Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Ravikesh Srivastava. The Vote of thanks was presented by Co Chair National Seminar Dr Ajay K Singh. Pro VC Dr Ravikesh Srivastav ,Dr Swati Bisht, Dr RN Sharma and Dr Sushil Rai among others were also present on the occasion.
