Tools of Trade at Training Bar : In today's practical the students were demonstrated the two new specialized equipments "Refractometer" and "Alcohol Hydrometer” and their application in the winery and distilleries for measuring brix level (sugar level) and density of alcohol.
A refractometer is a simple piece of brewery equipment that allows to take samples and figure starting gravities of brew easily and quickly.
Alcohol Hydrometer is an instrument used for measuring the relative density of liquids. It is used for detecting the watering-down or adulteration of spirits at retail strength in a test which takes less than two minutes.
