About the Dean

Dr. Shah Alam is an accomplished academic, researcher, media scholar, and columnist currently serving as Associate Professor and Dean (Officiating), School of Media, Communication & Design, IMS Unison University, Dehradun. With over a decade of teaching, research, and academic leadership experience, he has contributed significantly to the fields of mass communication, media studies, gender studies, and social research. He has previously served at prestigious institutions including Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Millia Islamia, and Banasthali Vidyapith.

His research interests encompass media and society, digital communication, journalism studies, gender and media, social media, emerging technologies, and public discourse. Dr. Alam has been actively engaged in interdisciplinary research exploring the intersections of media, democracy, gender, technology, and social change.

A prolific scholar, Dr. Alam has authored and edited several books and published numerous research papers in Scopus-indexed, ABDC-listed, and UGC CARE-listed journals. He has also contributed chapters to international edited volumes and presented papers at national and international conferences on media, communication, gender, technology, and public policy.

Beyond academia, Dr. Alam is a regular contributor to mainstream newspapers, magazines, and digital media platforms. His articles and commentaries on media, gender, education, culture, politics, and social issues regularly appear in mainstream newspapers. As a journalist and public commentator, he has consistently engaged with contemporary social concerns, bringing academic insights to wider public audiences.
